This exciting video shows
Norfolk & Western Class J No. 611 on a series
of excursions during 1989. The program begins with
an April excursion between Birmingham and Chattanooga
over the ex-Southern Railway main line. Then we move
north to Ohio for an April excursion over ex-N&W
rails between Cincinnati and Portsmouth followed by
the June doubleheader with NKP #587 on the Independence
Limited through Indiana and Ohio. Finally, in a sampling
of several fall excursions, we show the big 4-8-4
as she steams down the Norfolk Southern between Cincinnati
and Chattanooga. This portion of the program includes
the famous "Rat Hole" Division and an unforgettable
shot of the "J" slipping on the climb up
Erlanger Hill out of Cincinnati.
