4-8-4 #844 on a spectacular journey from Cheyenne,
Wyoming to Boise, Idaho in celebration of the statehood
centennial of both states. This is the UP's main line
to Portland, and you'll see the #844 steaming down
Sherman Hill and through Laramie, Rawlins and Green
River Wyoming. After climbing out of the Green River
valley, this big 4-8-4 heads around the Wasatch Mountains
to Pocatello, Idaho. At American Falls, the #844 crosses
high above the Snake River on the American Falls Dam.
The train meets up with the river again near Glenn's
Ferry, then steams off across the high desert toward
Nampa and Boise. This program also features lots of
in-cab shots and some high speed pacing, as well as
an interview with engineer Steve Lee and a cameo appearance
of the #844 on the CBS Morning News. This action-packed
video is a valuable addition to any railfan's video
library.
